Rats can be fussy. And I mean FUSSY. Just like you and I prefer certain things, so do they. Rats also like stuff that isn't good for them....also just like us. My diet is one that I've used for years and, with the odd adjustment here and there, has stayed pretty much the same. I created it along with my Vet and while I don't claim it to be the perfect diet, it is pretty darn good.
The non negotiable stuff:
The boosters and nice to adds:
This mix should give you around 3kg of food and last you a good while. It is designed that if you only fed this to your rats, they would be in great health.

Bedding and the turn down service you provide!
Rats should never, ever, EVER be kept on wood shavings....ever! They are toxic to rats and should be totally avoided. Also steer clear of newspaper due to the ink.
Personally I put a great product called Amaizing Bio Pet bedding made from corn cob, by Cobtech on the base. It is amazing stuff, reduces smells DRAMATICALLY and will change your life! Plus they wont eat it. On top of that I throw shredded office paper and voila...happy rats. The only other thing you then need to do is make sure that you have a nice, big cage for your critters with lots of toys, and sorted!
